Certified Translation Services

Certified, notarised and apostilled translations, all arranged for you

Diversity NI provides certified translations in over 80 languages from our office in Belfast, for clients across Northern Ireland and main land UK. Whether you need a birth certificate translated for a visa, or a full set of documents notarised and apostilled to get married abroad, we manage the whole process for you, quickly and with no stress.

Our translators are qualified to degree level, and every translation is checked under our ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system.

Translation, notarisation and apostille in one place

Many official processes abroad need more than a translation. Depending on the country and the purpose, your document may need to be:

  1. Translated and certified: we translate your document and add a signed statement confirming it is a true and accurate translation.
  2. Notarised: we work with partner solicitors who provide Notary Public certification of the translation.
  3. Apostilled: we arrange an apostille from the FCDO Legalisation Office, which confirms your document is legally recognised in countries that are part of the Hague Convention.

You do not need to find a translator, a notary and an apostille service separately. We arrange all three, so your documents are ready to use abroad as quickly as possible.

How it works

  1. Send us your document. Email a clear scan or photo to info@diversityni.co.uk, and tell us the language, what the translation is for and which country it is going to.
  2. Get your quote. We will confirm what your document needs, whether that is certification, notarisation or an apostille, and send you a quote the same day.
  3. We do the rest. Once you approve the quote, we translate, certify and, where needed, arrange notarisation and the apostille.

Translation: Frequently Asked Questions

What is a certified translation?
A certified translation is a translation accompanied by a signed statement from the translation company confirming that it is a true and accurate translation of the original document. Diversity NI provides certified translations in over 80 languages for official use in the UK and abroad.

What is an apostille?
An apostille is an official certificate issued by the FCDO Legalisation Office that confirms a UK document is genuine, so it is legally recognised in countries that are part of the Hague Convention. Diversity NI can arrange the apostille for you as part of your translation, so you do not need to deal with the process yourself.

Do I need my translation notarised?
Some countries and authorities require a translation to be certified by a Notary Public before it can be apostilled or accepted. Diversity NI works with partner solicitors to provide Notary Public certification, and we will advise you on exactly what your document needs.

Can you help me get documents ready to get married abroad?
Yes. Diversity NI translates, certifies and arranges notarisation and apostilles for documents needed to marry abroad, including birth certificates, certificates of no impediment and divorce decrees. Requirements vary by country, so we recommend confirming the exact list with the registry office or venue abroad.

Can you translate documents to register a death abroad?
Yes. We provide certified translations of death certificates and related documents for registering a death abroad or arranging repatriation, with notarisation and apostille where required. We handle these requests sensitively and as a priority.

How quickly can I get a certified translation?
Turnaround depends on the length of the document and whether notarisation or an apostille is needed. Standard certificates are often turned around quickly, and urgent requests are prioritised. Email your document to info@diversityni.co.uk and we will confirm the timescale the same day.

Will my translation be accepted by UK authorities?
Our certified translations include a signed statement of accuracy, the date, and our full contact details, which is the format commonly required by UK bodies for immigration, passport and other applications. If the receiving organisation has specific requirements, let us know and we will meet them.

Which languages do you translate?
Diversity NI translates over 80 languages, including Polish, Lithuanian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Portuguese, Arabic, Farsi, Somali, Chinese, Spanish, French, Ukrainian and Russian, as well as many less common languages. If your language is not listed, contact us.

Do I need to visit your office?
No. You can email a clear scan or photo of your document to info@diversityni.co.uk. If the original is needed for notarisation or an apostille, we will explain exactly what to send and how.

What if the country is not part of the Hague Convention?
Some countries need further legalisation by their embassy or consulate after the apostille. Diversity NI will tell you what your document needs and help you through each step.

How much does a certified translation cost?
The price depends on the language, the length of the document and whether notarisation or an apostille is needed. Email your document to info@diversityni.co.uk or call 028 9047 3737, and we will send you a quote the same day.
